stacking fruit and counting days

yesterday was sunshine and snow and a date with myself to the farmer's market to smell lemons and buy up all sorts of local goodies. these small dates with myself started out as necessity to pass the time while max was away with his dad...and they've become something i cherish. small gifts i didn't know i needed...
it hit me yesterday that this season in my life is nearly over...and that i already had a little side kick with me, enjoying the walking and the fresh air and fruit.
it's a lucky thing...counting months and seeing an end...being forced to give old habits and rituals a slow and happy goodbye.
i'm sure i'll always need to sneak out for some time alone every once and a while...but in the meantime i'm just glad that baby already seems to like blood oranges and people watching as much as i do.

  1. You should never give up those dates with yourself! Also, do you think you are slowly turning this blog into a "mommy" blog? I don't mean to offend. I have been reading since your days of livejournal. I hope you will keep all other aspects of what made you "you" as part of this blog and it won't just be all about babies...Even though they are nice, too:) You were just a real inspiration...and I'd like to still come here for that bit of sunshine! xoxo

    1. Its funny, I always thought this blog was a "mommy blog". Haha. I started blogging after I needed a place to put pictures of max. Its always been about sharing bits of our lives...and being a mama is the main part. Im sure being a mama of two will change things a bit...but if you've followed me for a while you know that I think being a good parent means having passions aside from the little ones. That wont change!

    2. I've also been reading since the days of Livejournal and I have never felt a need to wonder whether it is a Mummy blog or not. I am not a mum, i won't be for years but this thing you've got going on! Take time for yourself, or just post about bump, i don't think it would change anyone's opinion of your blog. I just LOVE reading it. It's become tradition to read Max's letters to the baby to my other half; I show pictures to everyone; i just love reading here.
I love reading about your time alone, and with your family.
I've been reading for so long, that without even knowing of my existence, i feel like i know you.
Keep it up; i'm so scared that with new found bloggy fame things will change in this little space!

  8. Katie, you need to do a post on how to take photos in public and not feel self-conscious. Every one of your gorgeous self-photos like this that I see, I think "I would be such a wimp about taking my own photo in public." But your photos are so special because you don't seem bashful about it at all - and your pics are awesome, as a result!
