paint an escape

i hid away at the museum this morning...spending some time alone away from the heat...touching cold marble and holding my breath at my favorite paintings.
i can't wait to bring baby girl here...for max to get to show her how your voice can echo in the large rooms and that there are samurai swords in the basement and a pinochio painting upstairs.

the best parts of living life together are getting to share the details...

p.s. thank you all much and much for the funny labor stories and recipes!
i was a week overdue with max and had to be induced...which led to a c-section. it was of course a beautiful experience but i was left feeling like there should be more to it. i'm determined this time to do things the old fashion way. and i'm excited to see my body actually do things on its own this time..i'm hopeful anyways.

come what may, but next week i'll be stocking up on fresh pineapple and caster oil and ordering pizza while scrubbing the kitchen floors. haha.

  7. So many emotions at the end stage of pregnancy. May your journey with your daughter be the one you were meant to have. May you be well, strong, present. May she be healthy, fierce and loved. Such a gift to get to be a woman in this thing we call life. Smiles to you.

  10. katie, have you read 'Birthing from Within', I strongly STRONGLY recommend it. I think there are many therapeutic parts of the book (like art therapy type stuff) - for people who need to heal from previous birthing experiences. Anyways, VBACs are totally possible, your body and baby girl can do it! Just trust them! I'll be sending so SO much loving birthing energy your way!

(I hate shameless blog promotion in comments, But I do have my birthing story posted on my blog. I took a lot of strength from reading others stories, I thought maybe you might too).

  14. I love your photos and please keep us updated! How painful was the C-section on a 1-10 scale? It's always been one of my biggest fears. And by the way the first picture and the side shot are my favorite pics! It looks so cute!

  22. Wonderful photos, and I think birth stories can be scary but I'll just say that I had to be induced early and I wished for one of those stubborn late babies, they always sleep and eat better :)

  27. You are beautyful. Just came here to say if you use castor oil it will definitely work. It should be your last resort. It will work, and it can make your labour quite fast (painful). Save it til you REALLY want to use it!

  31. You are such a work of art yourself, the curves of you belong among the beauty of the museum. There is nothing more amazing, strong & gorgeous to me than a mama on the brink of her baby's birth... time is almost still. I remember like it was yesterday & miss those fleeting moments! When you wrote "the best parts of living life together are getting to share the details"... true so very true. My pregnancies were all a little different... one right on his date, one almost a week early, and the last two babies were overdue. One born with much effort, one almost with none, one sunnyside up as they say and one in text book position. Wishing you a beautiful birth no matter how it happens. Our bodies are amazing things & know what to do.

  37. Congratulations on your pregnancy! You look absolutely radiant. I'm due with #3 on July 14th, and going for VBAC#2. Trust your body to birth your little girl, and don't be afraid to get extra monitoring or to speak up during your labour. You can do this! Wishing you a healthy and safe delivery and a very peaceful and fulfilling birth experience. Ariana

  39. You look absolutely gorgeous in that dress! I just had a baby and didn't buy maternity clothes with this pregnancy (limited uniform at work made it seem like a waste to spend money on cute maternity clothes). However, I'm hoping to get pregnant again in the next year or two (suicide?) and definitely want cute clothes this time around. Where did you get that dress???

  40. Do a vbac! I had one for my baby girl last October and it was the best experience and truly healed my soul from my c-section!!! If you turn down pitocin you will be rewarded with oxytocin that runs for months, every time you breastfeed, it is euphoric!

  41. Ah I love this, your Phoebe bump got so BIG!! How on earth did you manage to carry her around??? I have visions of ending up like Jessica Simpson...nooooooooooo - currently at 30 weeks so have plenty of time to grow :o) Love your pics xxx
