snips and snails and flea market finds

happy happy friday!
it's been a busy week...and i've hit a new and funny stage of pregnancy that i like to call "weepy panic". my poor boys!  but i've found that a good cure all for the weepies is getting out of the house and hiding out in thrift stores.  i had much luck finding things this week!

as much fun as it's been planning a girl's room, i love finding little boy treasures for bub and his space.
old desk lamps, maps, books, stacks of old graph paper, and charlie harper match game cards (which came from anthropologie...but oh how my heart swoons for charlie harper)...lots of bright and happy new boy things to scatter around.

i hope you all have the best kind of weekend!
max's first baseball game is tomorrow...i'm so thrilled for him (my little guy loves loves baseball!).

i wonder if he would be embarrassed if i brought a pennant with his name on it to wave around?

baby vintage

i can only hope baby girl likes collecting vintage dresses and odds and ends as much as i do...she has quite a collection growing! and i'm a little bit addicted...it has been such a treat getting to go thrifting once a week and hunting for all sorts of baby treasures. so far finding girl things are much easier to find then boys...

this week i got the sweetest package in the mail from my friend marissa! it was filled to the brim with little vintage dresses and books and a little girl bowl and plate. my oh my!

so now sis has a closet full of beautiful clothes but no bed to sleep in...haha. things are coming together slowly but surely. if any of you have any real great tips for washing baby clothes, i'm all ears...it's been so long since i've been down that road!

happy wednesday, friends!
tonight is date night...i wonder if i can convince matt that the salvation army and goodwill are romantic places to visit...

p.s. take a peek at marissa's etsy shop filled with all sorts of vintage finds...she's running a 15% off sale right now!

rain on my parade

nonstop rain, no sun, and a chance of snow tomorrow can make a girl question her sweet side.
which explains why i spontaneously bought these studded wedge booties today.
but finding them brand new for $20, as opposed to $200, makes me all giddy again.

i'm going to stomp around in the snow tomorrow in these puppies without a care in the world.

salvation. army.

i got to do two of my favorite things yesterday...treasure hunt and be with my sister amy.
i was in my glory...raiding color coordinated racks at the salvation army and giggling and being silly with my gal. things tend to get a little wacky after staring and sorting through oddities for a few hours.
mondays are fill a huge bag up for $10 day ( i think that's the official title..haha)...and i'm addicted. we scored some beautiful vintage pieces, all for under .50 each.
yes please!
matt is getting a little nervous about his side of the closet every time i bring home more thrifted goods.
maybe it's time to open a little etsy to give good homes to some of my finds....
( and now that i'm looking at it, why didn't i buy that flapper girl/art nouveau polyester blouse? haha)

finds...

matt bought me the most amazing necklace at the mum festival over the weekend.
this gal has an etsy with all sorts of interesting vintage found object pieces. mine is a silky delegate pin...and matt really wanted a journal and pencil necklace for himself.
he could most certainly pull it off.
we also bought these nutty fisherman for max from an old flannel-shirted man.
but i'm guessing he doesn't have an etsy...
i love thinking of his large, rough hands twisting those little colored pipe cleaners...or painting little eyes.
so good.

sunday afternoons with matt...rummaging through our favorite vintage shop and finding the swooniest briefcase for him to tote around to work.

and despite being 27 i still cant stop taking pictures of my feet.

a little peak

i pulled off my closet doors this weekend and made them into a headboard for my bed. i originally had a large blank canvas hanging above the bed but kind of like the idea of having it leaning against the wall. next step is to actually paint it.
using those ugly doors gave my little room new life and i thought it would be fun to show little bits of my space here and there...while the floor isn't covered with piles of dresses and towels.
ugh, i am most definitely that kind of girl...

my favorite pillows...where the wild things are owl prints. from a shop in louisville.
this little asian man is the light of my world right now. i can't look at him without snickering.
he's a good one to have around.

the only problem now is that this room begs to be napped in.
and this rainy afternoon isn't helping that at all.

mondays at home

...covering walls with cheap and old treasures, losing teeth, rolling out cookies, getting packages of new fabric for the dining room (note: i loved both so i decided to use one for the kitchen and one for my bedroom)

not too shabby...

my tiny dining room has been left bare since we moved in in january..only holding a table and a lot of boxes. and really it's been waiting for the perfect dresser/buffet that i had been envisioning.

i found one on craig's list that will do just fine!
now to get new fabrics for the chairs and windows (i have my eye on this or this amy butler pattern)...and the odd old cigarette smell out of the drawers.

my office changes....a lot. maybe i get bored easily or maybe i'm just waiting for the perfect things. anyways, my office shelves are a revolving door of my treasures.

i brought home a 50lb turquoise box filled with the stinkiest vintage sign letters and little cubby shelves today! eeep!

perfect!
my house smells like a mechanics shop now...
