outside the lines

today was a day for laying low.
...for hiding out in a teepee fort with nothing but your skivvies and coloring books and some funny conversation with mama.
me and max hid ourselves away up in this room for the better part of the day...escaping the heat and the dishes and work and the thought of another week away from each other next week.
those things are for the birds.

sometimes you just need to color.
and i think we all could use a day in our underwear.

xoxo

  1. man, my love for coloring books was rivaled only by my love for swingsets. actually, no need to speak in the past tense.

  5. THAT looks so lovely! What in the world do you do to your photos to make them look so dreamy all the time! Is it an action or is your world just like that?! =) Your boy is just beautiful.

I had to google skivvies (they are something completely different here). it sounds like an awesome day & your photos are delicious as always :D

  9. love you girls!
kacie! i'm putting together a little photo tutorial...but really i don't edit my pictures a whole lot. i definitely hunt out good lighting. the belly photo with the haze at the bottom was a wonderful accident. haha. i had my camera sitting on a clear toy lid and it turned out that way.
sadly, most of my photographs are happy accidents. haha.

  11. I love your son's room! I have a globe in my son's room too... but the rest isn't as cute and bright as that! I'm workin' on that. We're renting a very... khaki-colored house right now...

  13. Hi KATIE, I have to agree that all your photos are just McDreamy ;-). and big wow to that teepee. as a kid I think I played more with arrows and bows and playing Indians than I did with dolls. Im quite jealous of our kiddos teepee now! ;-)
Looking forward to your photo tutorial

  19. Yay. Can't wait to see your tutorial. I think your cropping is a bit part of it.. there's a little mystery. Do you use the 50 1.4? That's what I'm using most of the time these days. I like your accidental awesome photography.

  22. thank you for reminding me that sometimes i just need to color (or paint) in my underwear. i tend to forget sometimes that even though i am a "grownup" i still need to be a kid sometimes :)
