saturday hideaway

lazy saturdays are for hiding out with family over coffee and sweets and board games and sunny spots in the windows. max's dad and 2nd mama came too making the deal that much sweeter.

it's rare to have these kinds of days where everyone is present and accounted for. phoebe took a cat nap in my arms while max read us his stories and made up scrabble words and i'm aching to do the whole thing over again next weekend.

happy happy monday to you, friends!

(and a million thank yous for such cheering me on with my new space! if any of you ever find yourself in dayton i except you to come over and paint something with me!)

  1. oh it sounds wonderful! That's what i want to do next weekend too! The image of Phoebe sleeping (or nursing?... hard to tell) in your arms is gorgeous in all kinds of ways. And I love the one of her in her carseat next to the orange chair. So simple, so truthful. Gorgeous family and post.

  5. I love that there is no hostility but love and support from the adults in Max's life. I love that whatever personal pain was felt has been pushed aside so that Max can receive love from all angles. What a lucky guy!

  10. I thought I spotted a short beard in one of the photos. How glorious for Max, that his parents can get together and do this. It was my greatest wish that Tamika's father and his wife, and I could be friendly. But she refused from the very beginning and has never relented. It makes me sad that she would never allow us to do things as a group. Not even Tamika's graduation or 18th.
All I can say is Max is one lucky boy his parents, all four of them, love him this much.

  14. as a kid of an extremely blended family I gotta say it would be dreamy to have everyone together, all my family together in one room. I'm so happy for Max that you all are doing just that, he is one lucky and loved boy.

  19. That coffee shop looks awesome. Would you be willing to share which one it is? I'm also in Dayton, and I'd love to try it myself. I've been spending way too much time trying to figure it out. It's not Press, but it might be that cute one on Wayne (Gaslight Coffee? Something like that?). Anyway, if you'd be willing to share, I would appreciate it!
